Exposure to endocrine disruptors and alterations in mineralized tissues: A Narrative Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) would cause alterations in organs/systems of exposed individuals or their progeny. Objetive: To identify and analyze the main published findings on effects exposure to EDCs teeth, cartilage, bone. Material Methods: Two databases were analyzed: Medline Web Science. Only observational studies analyzing effect mineralized tissues since 2006 included study. Results: 25 articles selected, most them involving pesticides, plasticizers, personal care products, highlighting organochlorine compounds, bisphenols, phthalates, dioxins, parabens, perfluoroalkyls. Thirty-six per cent reported an accumulation teeth bones, while 64% development morphology, mainly at bone level, primarily affecting mineral density size, as well that bones The type observed was related analyzed, it seemed depend variables such age, sex, ethnicity/race, even metabolic status different species analyzed. No evidence associated with cartilage found. Conclusion: environment, work, home, under routes, are capable accumulating bone, particularly latter. It is necessary study agro-industrial areas, especially teeth.

Cancer and developmental exposure to endocrine disruptors.

Developing organisms have increased susceptibility to cancer if they are exposed to environmental toxicants during rapid growth and differentiation. Human studies have demonstrated clear increases in cancer after prenatal exposure to ionizing radiation, and there is suggestive evidence that brain tumors and leukemia are associated with parental exposures to chemicals. Animal experiments have de...

Applicable risk assessment methods in occupational and environmental exposure to nanoparticles - a narrative review

Nanoparticles (NPs) are a heterogeneous group of materials that have various applications, and their risk assessment is an essential condition. This study aimed to review the applicable risk assessment methods in occupational and environmental exposures to NPs. A literature search for articles published since 2005 in Web of Knowledge, Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar, using ap...

Exposure to environmental endocrine disruptors and child development.

Exposure to exogenous chemicals can affect endocrine function at multiple sites and through numerous specific modes of action, which may have far-reaching effects on human health and development. Widespread human exposure to known or suspected endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) has been documented in the United States and worldwide, as have trends for increased rates of endocrine-related dis...

NIEHS and CDC track human exposure to endocrine disruptors.

-The gut microcolony assay has been used to measure damage to intestinal crypts by single and split doses of 3 alkylating agents: mechlorethamine hydrochloride (HN2), bis-chloroethyl-nitrosourea (BCNU) and isopropyl methane sulphonate (IMS). The single-dose survival curves for whole crypts were distinguished by extrapolation numbers (3-0, 176 and 15 respectively) that were lower than most previ...

Tetracyclines and mineralized tissues: review and perspectives.

INTRODUCTION The tetracyclines have proved to be an extremely important group of drugs because of their wide range of antibiotic activity (1-3). (For general background, antibiotic activity, and pharmacology of the tetracyclines, we refer the reader to recent review articles by Weinstein (1), Kucers (3), Weisblum and Davies (4), and Garrod et al. (5).) In addition, they have the unique attribut...
